Exterior lighting and signals
WARNING
Before driving at night, check that the electrical equipment is operating correctly
and adjust the headlight beams (if your vehicle is not carrying its normal load) HEADLIGHT BEAM ADJUSTMENT. As a general precaution, check that the lights are not obscured (by dirt, mud, snow
or objects being transported).
WARNING
If the vehicle is parked on the hard shoulder with the tailgate open, the rear lights
may be obscured. You should make other road users aware of your vehicle by using a
warning triangle or other equipment specified by the road traffic regulations of the
country you are driving in.
Side lights
Introduction
Turn the ring 3 on the stalk 1 until the symbol appears opposite the mark 2.
Side position lights
(depending on the vehicle)
These draw other road users' attention to the width of the vehicle.
They come on when the side lights are switched on.
Daytime running lights function
The daytime running lights come on automatically without any action on the stalk 1 when the engine is started, and they switch off once the engine is switched off.
Dipped beam headlights
- This indicator light on the instrument panel comes on.
Manual operation
Turn the ring 3 until the symbol is opposite the mark 2.
Automatic operation
(depending on the vehicle)
Turn the ring 3 until the symbol AUTO appears opposite the mark 2: with the engine running, the dipped beam headlights switch on or off automatically
depending on the brightness of the light outside, without any action on the stalk
1.
"See-me-home lighting" function
This function allows you to briefly switch on the dipped beam headlights (to provide
light when opening a gate, etc.).
With the engine off and the lights switched off, the ring 3 in position AUTO, pull the stalk 1 towards you: the dipped beam headlights come on for approximately one minute. To
increase this duration, you may pull the stalk up to four times (total time restricted
to approximately four minutes).
To switch off the lights before they switch off automatically, turn the ring 3 to any position, then return it to position AUTO.
Main beam headlights
- This indicator light on the instrument panel comes on.
With the dipped beam headlights on, pull the stalk 1.
To return to the dipped beam headlights position, pull the stalk 1 towards you again.
Automatic main beam headlights
- Depending on the vehicle, this system switches the main beam headlights on and off automatically. The function uses a camera located behind the interior rear view mirror to detect vehicles that are following and coming in the opposite direction.
WARNING
Using a portable navigation system at night in the windscreen area below the camera
may disturb the operation of the "automatic main beam headlights" system (risk of
reflection on the windscreen).
WARNING
The "automatic main beam headlights" system should under no circumstances be used
to replace the driver's attention and responsibility with regard to vehicle lighting
and adapting to light, visibility and traffic conditions.
Tip
The system may encounter difficulties under certain conditions, including:
- extreme weather conditions (rain, snow, fog, etc.);
- obstruction in front of the windscreen or camera;
- when a following or oncoming vehicle has weak or hidden lighting;
- incorrect settings for the front headlights;
- reflecting systems;
- ...
Tip
Each time you start the engine, pull the stalk 1 towards you to reactivate the system.
The main beam headlights come on automatically if:
- the exterior light level is low;
- no other vehicle or lighting is detected;
- the vehicle speed is above approximately 28 mph (45 km/h).
If any of the above conditions are not fulfilled, the system switches to dipped beam
headlights.
Note: make sure the windscreen is not obscured (dirt, mud, snow, condensation, etc.).
Activation/Deactivation
To activate the automatic main beam headlights:
- turn the ring 3 until the AUTO symbol is opposite the mark 2;
- pull the stalk 1 towards you.
The warning light appears on the instrument panel.
To deactivate the automatic main beam headlights:
- pull the stalk 1 towards you again;
- or turn the ring 3 to a position other than AUTO.
The warning light disappears from the instrument panel.
Operating faults
When the "WARNING: Check Lighting" message accompanied by the warning light and the warning flashes on the instrument panel, this indicates a lighting fault.
Consult an approved dealer.
Fog lights
Front fog lights
- This warning light is displayed on the instrument panel
Turn the centre ring 4 on the stalk 1 until the symbol is opposite mark 5.
The front fog lights only work if the exterior lights have been activated.
Rear fog lights
- This indicator light on the instrument panel comes on.
Turn the centre ring 4 on the stalk 1 until the symbol is opposite mark 5.
The rear fog lights only work if the exterior lights have been activated.
Do not forget to switch off the fog lights when they are no longer needed, to avoid
inconveniencing other road users.
When the exterior vehicle lights are switched off, the rear fog lights switch off
or the equipment returns to the front fog lights position (if they are fitted).
Switching off the lights
The lights will go out automatically when the engine is switched off, the driver’s
door is opened or the vehicle is locked. In this case, the next time the engine is
started the lights will be switched back on according to the position of the ring
3.
Lights-on reminder buzzer
If the lights are on after the engine is switched off, a warning beep sounds when
the driver’s door is opened to warn you that the lights are still on (to avoid battery
discharge).
